Scores average answered numerical ratings. Older evaluation records may summarize whole sections and have no written comment. Written reviews are counted separately. How scores work
Took his class a while ago, but he is a chill guy. The class was 100% exams, and but he truly wants to help students. I cried once every week over my grade, but the curve saved many of us.
Just lectures. If you're really into history, could be interesting. It ends up being paragraphs upon paragraphs of information that he literally just reads to us. It gets really boring really quickly. Also, exams are ALL of your grade. You will have 3 throughout the semester and one final worth 40%. There are easier histories out there than this.
Professor Pendas is extremely knowledgeable. If you like history, his lectures will be amazing for you. If you do better on exams, grades are solely based on 3 midterms and one final (worth 55% of your grade). Records his lectures. If you study and pay attention during his lectures, it is very manageable to do well in his class!
Weekly readings that will be on exams. Extremely lecture-heavy. If you don't go, you have to wait for panopto recordings otherwise you'll be lost, so just go. No quizzes, your grade is based only on exams. They weren't that hard, just a few multiple choice and some short response answers written in a blue book. Lectures are also pretty boring.
The amount of readings Prof. Pendas assigned was completely unreasonable, but if you pay attention in class you'll be fine without doing them. Since the course was just lectures it could get boring, but the material was interesting. Our grades were determined solely by two papers, so it was high stakes but he was a reasonable grader.
Engaging lecturer, funny and very generous / lenient when it comes to deadlines. Our final grade was determined by two papers and the amount of reading is pretty absurd, so definitely be prepared for that, but overall a really interesting class
I am in the EQ Holocaust class. He is very considerate of personal issues if you need an extension, and overall a good professor in terms of covering material and engaging the class. He’s good at cracking jokes and making the material fun. We only have two papers and attendance to be graded on, so beware if you are not good at writing papers!
