Fulfills the US History requirement for MajorsThis course will examine developments in the United States to the end of reconstruction in 1877. The principle text will be volume two of the textbook edition of Jill LeporesThese Truths, along with several supplemental readings. Topics to be considered include the Gilded Age, populism, progressivism, civil rights movements, the U.S. role in world affairs, the struggle between economic development and relief for the poor and the environment, and social and cultural change and backlash.

i took us history ii with fr. murphy and i thought it was pretty sufficient (im not a history major). the papers were kinda long but still doable. i wouldn't really recommend if you doze off in class / get distracted easily since there's no notes or slides at all. he's a very kind guy though!

Grube is frustrating and rude, not worth it
