History Major Standing The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 affected Japan profoundly with repercussions around the world. In an effort to get beyond the U.S.-specific debate surrounding the decision to drop the bomb, this course offers opportunities to investigate, through original research, the social, political, and cultural history of memory that has unfolded since, in Japan and elsewhere. In the company of othernew History majors, you learn how to formulate a historical research topic, collect and organize a variety of materials, analyze and interpret historical sources, and produce a piece of original historical writing.
