ENGR3111 · Engineering Human Centered
Morrissey College of Arts & Sciences
This introductory Materials Science and Engineering course provides an important background to aid in material selection for various applications. Students will learn about the fundamentals of materials, focusing on the crystal structure of solids and mechanical properties of materials that are essential for understanding the structure-property-processing relationships of materials. Thecourse will then examine different material types metals, alloys, ceramics, polymers, and composites highlighting their structure, mechanical properties, and processing techniques. By applying their acquired knowledge, students will evaluate materials for use in biomaterials, energy, and environmental applications, emphasizing material properties, design, and selection.
