ARTS3334 · Fine Arts
Morrissey College of Arts & Sciences
This course engages notions of both matter and ideas, physicality and information through a series of projects designed to combine and break down the boundaries between image making, sculpture, the analogue and the digital. It covers a wide range of contemporary approaches to mixed media including collage, plant based dyeing, alternative photographic methods, fibers, assemblage, digital media, site specific installation, projection, and more. Short and long -term projects are developed with an emphasis on working through conceptual concerns through material investigations. Both traditional and unexpected media and approaches will be used in a class environment which encourages risk-taking, experimentation, rigorous engagement and creative collaboration.
