AI is reshaping law, business, national security, and society at an unprecedented pace, raising complex legal and policy challenges. This course provides law students with a foundation in the legal frameworks, regulatory developments, and ethical considerations shaping AIs use and governance. Topics include intellectual property rights in AI-generated content, liability for autonomous systems, algorithmic bias and discrimination, AIs impact on privacy and cybersecurity, national security implications, and the evolving role of AI in legal practice. Students will analyze emerging legal frameworks, engage with key policy debates, and critically assess the role of law in balancing innovation, economic growth, and societal risks. No technical background is required.
