This course is focused on advanced practice health assessment across the lifespan. Using a holistic, person-centered approach and risk appraisal frameworks, the student will learn comprehensive health history collection and complete physical examinations. Building on knowledge of basic physical assessment, this course will prepare the student to comprehensively assess patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. Concepts of health promotion, health maintenance, and harm reduction will be applied. Attention is given to the intersection of bias, structural racism, social determinants of health, gender and health inequities on patient outcomes. This course utilizes multiple learning methods to build clinical competencies.
