Absolutely amazing professor. Extremely knowledgeable, sneakily funny, and engaging (albeit quiet) lecturer. If you at least skim the readings to understand the core ideas of the authors, take decent notes, and attend the extra review session, you're pretty much guaranteed an A. I cannot recommend him & this course enough if you're interested in IR
Midterm, final, & attendance (33% each). LOTS of readings, but just read the conclusions & go to class he'll go over the main arguments. Class materials are genuinely so interesting & the lectures are great (he speaks quite softly though so sit up front).
Byun is a young professor but he's incredibly knowledgeable and I always learned so much in his classes. You won't do well on the two exams if you don't take good notes in every lecture. But if you do that a lot of the readings are semi optional. One complaint is that he likes to wear tshirts and his huge triceps can be kind of distracting.
Byun is really great professor! While his course is essentially just his lectures (highly recommend going to class, taking good notes, and sitting close to the front - he speaks softly), I found them to be incredibly interesting. There are many readings assigned on the syllabus, you don't have to do them if you pay attention to the lectures!
