I would've preferred in person my roommate had her in person and said she was life-changing and inspiring and I got some of that online especially through her selfie lectures and zoom classes but it wasn't the same. The material was amazing such a wide array of resources especially pages which honestly I loved. The work she puts in is unfathomable.
I had Dr. Murphy spring pandemic & although I missed her inspiring in class presence, she added these hilarious selfie lectures that she filmed with her phone. Honestly it was kind of what I needed in the middle of a really dark time. Sometimes I rewatch them because theyre both funny & inspiring. A little more work than other classes. But fun.
Professor Murphy is hands down the best professor I've worked with at B.C. Be ready to fully commit to the course, I definitely had to put more effort into my work in this class but it was worth it. She's tough but in a way that makes you want to work that much harder to do well and really learn the material. 10/10 recommend.
I left every class with Dr. Murphy feeling empowered and alive. The exams are challenging, but doable if you did the reading, and there are multiple writing responses too. Dr. Murphy is an incredible professor who challenges, engages, and inspires her students.

A women studies gender class cross listed with like history and comm and soc and English was what I took it for because each section had limits that part wasnt ideal because I wanted to take it for a soc required space, it was the same class but I could only get English cred but thats not on her. She was great! One of my best professors ever!
Dr. Murphy is inspirational, her lectures are riveting and though we are only several weeks in I am in awe of her story and her knowledge base. I could listen to her all day. I feel like I am at a poetry reading or a comedy show but I leave smarter, better and energized. I hope she reads this and knows the rockstar we all think she is to us! Thanx
