As a woman, she's amazing and so sweet. But as a professor, she's awful. People mention her thick accent, but that is not what makes her and her class so difficult; once you understand her, her course and the way she teaches is still confusing. If you take finite with her, the only way you will pass is through a tutor or just teaching yourself.

This class is more of a understand/work on your own kind of class. The home works are so long and will definitely take a big chunk out of the weekend, more than other classes. The professor is okay but the delivery of content is very bad.

Professor Clote has good intention, but her heavy accent, lack of clear explanations, and overall harsh critique of her students makes her class nearly impossible. If you do every single homework, pay attention and understand every word that she says, and use every minute of test taking on the test. The second I got a B, I knew it was an F or a W.

Professor Clote is one of the worst professors I've ever had. Not only does she just not teacher, all semester she read off an already filled out sheet, but she is just not helpful in office hours. I would only take her class if you HAVE to get your math credit over with and you have no other choice.

She may not be the best professor in the world, but Marie Clote is very kind and caring to her students. Also, the tests are very easy and there is a lot of other grades that make up the overall grade that are only based on completion. I highly recommend taking this course, even though you may be confused at times.

Professor Clote is such a great teacher. She loves what she teaches, and cares about her students' well being so much. I took her class, Finite Probability and Applications, on Zoom, but she still was funny and engaging in class. She is incredibly helpful and grades pretty generously. It is a good balance of exams and grade-boosting assignments.

Professor Clote is easily one of the worst I have ever had. Shes somehow managed to make online learning even more difficult than usual and gives students little to no chances to ask questions. Her thick accent makes the material even more confusing and she makes no attempt to explain anything, instead just listing what students need to know.

Professor Clote was a delight! She cares about what she teaches, and the lectures are not difficult to understand. She makes sure the class understands the concepts correctly, and she is good at explaining new ideas thouroughly. Her French accent may be difficult to understand at first, but I adjusted pretty quickly. Would take again!

She will not explain her work and will mostly write down the answers.

Doesnt care about students nor does she care about what happens in her class. A lot of students cheat, she doesnt grade herself and her TAs arent happy with their work load which hurts the students in turn.

I would NEVER take this class again. She assigns so much unnecessary homework and grades it really harshly, well, her TAs. I went to her office hours and she is not helpful at all. 100% do not recommend!!

Horrible Professor would never take again. Her accent could not be understood and when you come to her office hours she talks down to you and criticizes your lack of understanding during her lectures. The only redeeming factor of the course was the TA who would help with all the work which she assigned: which was a lot.

Here's my analogy for how she teaches: Someone feeds you a sandwich, you eat it and so she says, "there was basil in it so now you know how to cook a meal using basil." She'll walk into class and start doing a problem, then write a theorem out and say, "we now know how to do this theorem." She has no explanations , I feel like I need a translator.

Would go to office hours for help and would just be talked down to as if I was stupid. But if I asked a question in class I would just be stared at with a confused look on her face as if she could not understand that someone did not understand.

Obviously a very intelligent professor, but no one understood anything she said. She does have an accent, but the biggest barrier to communication was that she wouldn't explain things coherently. I had taken AP calculus in high school, expected this to be familiar, but she confused me so much that I feel like I actually lost knowledge.

Professor Clote means well, but her course is incomprehensible. Her lectures pack complicated material into a small amount of time and she's unhelpful outside of class. Clote is unpopular with BC students; even bright learners struggle in her class. Unless you are a brilliant mathematician, I recommend that you look for a different math instructor.

Very hard to understand moved a little too fast

Easily one of the worst professors at BC. Her heavy French accent and inability to explain the content make the class unnecessarily challenging. Honestly, don't even bother showing up to class except for days when you have to turn in written homework/take exams. You're better off teaching yourself the material.

Clote's Calc 1 class is a bit of a challenge. She speaks quickly and doesn't take the time to explain the concepts covered in class. The homework assignments are always heavy. The redeeming factor of this course is the discussion session with TAs once a week. You can ask them to explain something to you, and they are always very helpful.

Easily the worst teacher I have ever had the displeasure of "learning" under (& I come from a low performing public high school). Deciphering her thick French accent is difficult. She provides no explanation for what she is copying from the book and writing on the board. Gives a blank stare when asked a question. If at all possible don't take Clote

One month into the course, I already am compelled to write about how bad she is; easily the worst teacher I've had in my educational career. She recites and copies from book, and moves on without any explanation, leaving you behind in your notes, wondering what she just said in her thick French accent. Get ready to learn math on your own, if at all

I don't know why they let her teach math. She doesn't explain anything she just writes what the book says on the board. Math can't be lectured. I went to her office hours and she called me stupid for 30 minutes and did not help at all. The only reason I passed was because I took calc in high school.

Very Knowledgable, very clear, TA grades everything, knows her stuff very fair

Cant understand one word that comes out her mouth, should count towards the foreign language core as well math...she never actually explains new topics she just writes down example after random example choking on chalk dust and talking to herself in french as she writes on the board. Dont take unless you speak french or have already learned Calc 2.

She is a useless french teacher who has no qualifications to be teaching at such a good business school. She is not helpful
