Patho & Adult Health I
Dorean keeps it real—she tells us what we need to hear, not just what's in the textbook, and she doesn't sugarcoat the realities of patient care. She is extremely motherly as a prof and you can see her heart in everything she does. Nursing isn't just her career it's her calling. She is SO intelligent, use her!
Professor Hurley is wonderful and has a hands-on approach to teaching that made her class engaging. She offers practical and detailed feedback and wants all of her students to succeed. She is a fairly harsh grader, but I learned so much from her class last year and would love to take a class with her again when I return to BC for my MSN this fall.
Professor Hurley made patho ridiculously challenging. The slides would have no relevant info on what we needed for exams. Instead, she would say out loud all of the key information with no visual aid. Be prepared to rewatch every lecture and write down every word she says and still fail tests. Also was rude and unhelpful when asked for study help.
She gives good outlines for exams. These are not tests you can cram for because it is a lot of material, but if you start studying early then it makes the material very manageable. While the material is dense, she did not test on anything that was not in the lectures and there are so many study groups that really help you understand the material.
Professor Hurley has a great heart. Unfortunately this class is extremely difficult. Students who fail pathophysiology will not be able to move on to clinicals or spring classes. She wants us to succeed but too many kids are set back from failing this course. The tests are very hard, manageable if you spend a week studying.
nurs2080- Grade is entirely exams and at home quizzes. That being said, exams were pretty straightforward and if you attended lecture or watched the recordings and put in time to study or re-write notes you could be successful. Accessible during office hours for content help or general questions. She wants to see her students succeed.
NURS2080 (Pathophysiology):
I enjoyed Prof. Hurley's class and found her tests to be pretty straightforward. She mostly pulls material from the PowerPoints and lectures and doesn't ask random questions from the text that we never talked about, which I appreciated. She's friendly and encouraging.
She's usually a pretty nice lady, but she can be really moody, kind of lacks enthusiasm, asks ridiculously difficult test questions, grades harshly, and won't admit when she's wrong.
