Class is very hard but useful for the future.

He is the best professor ever.

He is the best.

Took ECON312 with him at UMBC. Very fast lecturer and often confusing. However he is nice and will explain things in more detail if you ask. Exams are 80% of your grade so put most of your effort into those

Professor Pollio is one of the best! Lectures are engaging, funny, and he's super accessible—ask for the “dumb version” and he'll break it down simply. Problem sets are heavy but won't hurt your grade if you're learning. Exams are weighted more. He connects theory to real life and truly prepares you beyond the classroom.

Pollio is very understanding, accessible outside of the class, and is able to explain concepts in depth.

Luigi is a great person, loved his class! It was hard, and forced me to really study and understand the material. That's how a class should be taught.

His classes are fun but tough. I learned a lot.

I was scared to take his classes but at the end I really loved his lectures. I learned so much from his Corporate Finance class.

If you want to learn take his classes. If you care only about the grade, I suggest to change professor because he is no joke.

Great!

His classes are hard but well explained. I took his Econometrics class and he was clear about the material and how students were evaluated. Definitely a good class to take.

Nice guy, tough class, but cares about students.

I took his Econ 231 at Wesleyan. It was by far the hardest class I have ever had but also the most interesting one. I felt really prepared after taking his class. Clearly, rating are negatively correlated with difficulty because many students do not want to work hard.

THIS IS FOR WESLEYAN 231. Clearly knowledgeable on the material but fails to communicate it effectively. Yes he curves the grades but I learned very little from the course.

DO NOT TAKE a class with Professor Pollio. I took ECON241 at Wesleyan. Tests are extraordinarily difficult and unfair. Frequently brags about how difficult the exams are going to be and how poor the average grades are. Creates unreasonable stress for a 200 level course.

NOT ECON 2202! Econ 241 at Wesleyan University. If you care about your GPA stay away. Exams are impossible and his review sessions are about how hard the exam is going to be. Nice guy but doesn't quite understand that almost everyone in his class just failed the exams. Couldn't find his Wesleyan University page so had to leave one hear.

Meh. Great guy, bad lecturer. Luckily the tests and problem sets are straight out of the textbook, so I just read that to learn all I know. I see he's teaching econometrics next semester, and since econometrics is much harder and harder to learn on your own than macro, I definitely don't recommend him for that.

Kinda what the first review said; he doesn't teach and barely lectures from the slides. Homework is bare, but the tests are out of hand and unfairly difficult. He also is hard to understand. If you care about your GPA, find another instructor.

If you care about a) learning about macro or b) your gpa, then do not take his class. I have no doubt in my head that he's a smart guy, but he is probably the worst instructor I have ever had in my life. He doesn't use any of the powerpoint slides, and each class he derives a ton of equations and doesn't explain what they mean. Don't take him.
