Simply great. I thought it was a hard class but maybe I just took the class a bit too early and wasn't expecting the readings.

All BC students need to take a class with Derek before graduating. He is so funny and so chill. Makes theology about the real world, you don't just read the bible or other boring stuff. There aren't many assignments so you do kind of have to put effort into the midterm and final paper, but it's so worth it. Funniest, most entertaining prof ever!

We had weekly reading quizzes which weren't hard even if you didn't do the reading. I was sure I was gonna get like a B in his class but I'm pretty sure he bumped my grade because he liked me personally and my final essay topic. The class discussed social issues and christianity, and was similar to a philosophy class. The midterm was open note.

Definition of a chill professor. Super down-to-earth and hilarious. Also, he has us call him Derek. Be prepared to do a decent amount of reading (and there are pop quizzes which are open note) but he makes it manageable.

Professor Brown is amongst the best professors I've had at BC. He chose an interesting variety of readings and his lectures were easy to follow and informative. He was relaxed and approachable, and gave good feedback on assignments. His class was fun and I learned a lot. Would definitely recommend him to anyone thinking of taking his class.

For starters he allows us to call him Derek, so you know hes going to be good. He finds the perfect balance between making sure that his students are having fun while still actually learning. He understands what his students are going through and helps them when they need it. If anyone is considering taking one of his courses, DO IT.
