Smart guy but had no concept of how to teach an intro class.

This was easily the worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. Class is incredibly boring and very unhelpful for understanding the course material. I honestly think he has no place at a great institution like Boston College and that the school is wasting its resources on such a horrible professor. Do not take any of his classes.

Professor Tristan is clearly an expert in his field, as well as being passionate about computer science. However, the difficulty of the class is way above what I would consider manageable. Much of his homework is very difficult; some of his homework were typical CS job interview questions. Avoid if you have no/little comp sci experience.

Clearly an expert but churns through new concepts rapidly. With no CS background it was a struggle to absorb the lectures. Homework sets required a min of 8 hours a week. Challenging questions combine python operations with mathematical concepts that you need to identify intuitively. Felt like writing a novel while learning the language.

Tristan is a nice professor, who clearly cares about computer science and coding. However, his introduction class is RIDICULOUSLY difficult if you have no background in the subject. Five substantial coding assignments every week which took me between 4-8 hours to complete depending on the week. Extremely difficult if this is your first time coding.
