He wrote the book, so text and lecture are virtually identical. Classes are 300 people, so just pure lecture, no questions allowed. Funny anecdotes, good research, good speaker. Optional discussion was worth very little, so not worth going. Two assignments: midterm and final.
Tricky Dick Tresch was one of the greatest professors I ever had. He wrote the book, so obviously lecture's gonna be similar. There's a reason he won state teacher of the year...twice.
I took Tresch for macro.. probably the hardest class ever. You should either go to class or read the book, but not both. I found reading the book to be helpful, but I still suffered. The classes are rather large and you typically have a discussion group.
