Can't stop glazing this professor. She's funny, likable, meticulous with the material and you do need to read, participate, and be accurate in your responses if you want to get a good grade—which is more than achievable if you get a fair amount of work done. Took her for perspectives, a double course, but I wouldn't say the workload is that huge.
I LOVED this class. Currently going into the second sem. LOTS of reading but definitely worth understanding as these readings are generally written by some of the brightest minds in human existence. DeChiara LOVES participation (better to be accurate/correct) and gives out tons of extra credit. Exams are fair, quizzes are harder. 11/10 MUST TAKE!
Maybe the best professor I've ever had. She has an aura about her that makes every class feel safe and calm. She will love you if you participate in class, even if everything that you say is wrong. She is funny in a cynical way, which I must admit is not for everyone, but you can learn to love it. Lots of easy extra credit, and assesments are fair.
Great professor, she is funny and makes class enjoyable. Lots of extra credit and it's easy to get, some of it is literally watching a movie or like writing a 5 minute poem or something. Lots of reading but she makes it interesting, and while the class can be kind of hard sometimes it is pretty easy to get an A with all the extra credit she gives
Surprisingly not a polarizing professor at all, most people I know who took a class with her liked her as a professor but for me personally, I'm leaning towards disliking. Not TERRIBLY hard but is super passive-aggressive and apathetic for no good reason. Keep in mind that she does say extremely out of pocket things in class occasionally
Professor De Chiara-Quenzer is alright. She is extremely opinionated which can be difficult as much of the content that she teaches is ambiguous. She doesn't love opposing feedback. She can be rude at times but overall is kind once you get to know her. She is extremely passionate about what she teaches. Decent amount of reading.
Absolute top notch professor. She is an icon. Makes a lot of quirky jokes in class and knows a lot about the subject. Bit of a tough grader, but fairly easy to receive a good grade. This Enduring Questions class was definitely the best decision I made. Will 100% take future classes with her.
Professor De Chiara-Quenzer is accessible outside of class and passionate about the material. She is very fair with her tests and with her grading. Participation matters and the class does focus on the discussion!
Prof. DeChiara Quenzer is great, she knows so much about what she teaches and is very passionate about her work. There is essentially no homework besides reading and she lets you use notes on exams (although they can be difficult). She cares about her students and wants you to succeed. I definitely recommend her.
So great to have as a freshman, she really cares about her students. Always makes jokes and wants her students to be entertained. I made great friends in this class and she does a cool group project second semester for Perspectives. I will miss her next year, take her class if you can!
Prof. De-Chiara is incredible. She is very knowledgable about what she teaches and is truly caring about her students. If you are engaged in class and take advantage of the resources and opportunities that she offers, you can easily do well in this course. She is engaging, funny, and a very sweet person.
Best teacher I have had. Caring, willing to make extra time for students, compassionate, and makes class interesting! A true joy to listen to her stories and how she connected them to the Philosophy concepts we were reviewing. Grades fairly and always gives enough preparation to students before test day.
She is very kind and knowledgable about philosophy. She was very caring and made concepts very digestible. There's some good extra credit opportunities, such as watching movies and visiting museums!
She is a decent perspectives professor. She definitely would not be my top choice when picking a perspectives professor, but you can get an A in the class if you take good notes. She mumbles often and gets very political unnecessarily. She offers many extra credit opportunities if you're falling behind and is very accessible during office hours.
Professor DeChiara-Quenzer has made my freshman year a really good experience so far. She really cares about you succeeding, as well as making sure your transition to college is going well. Awesome professor.
I love Professor Chiara-Quenzer so much. To show how much I love her, I have never rated a prof., but I loved her so much that I am writing this when I should be doing a gazillion other things. She made complicated material simple and relevant, using many anecdotes and modern-day examples. She took her time in explanations. Appropriate work load.
Deborah is absolutely great. Compared to the other Perspectives sections, she assigns very little assignments and grades very easily. Some of our assignments were literally to go on a walk with a classmate. Very few essays and exams. Makes class pretty interesting considering the content itself can be a bit bland.
If you are an incoming freshman picking a Perspectives professor, I could not recommend her more. She does not give an insane amount of work and she makes the class interactive and makes the readings understandable and relatable to our lives. She also gives a good amount of extra credit!
