Incredible professor. Had him for models of politics and he was very engaging as a lecturer. The material is very interesting and he is always willing to answer questions if you are confused. One of my favorite polysci professors ever.

Prof. Hayao is friendly and the class is straightforward. As long as you come to class consistently, you'll get all the info you need for exams, he even tells you what questions to expect in advance. Readings are long and dense but you should be able to get by without doing all of them. Make sure to start on the term paper early in the semester

Professor Hayao is really sweet, the material is easy to grasp and he goes over it a lot in the lectures. He gives some unclear direction on the papers so meeting with him is helpful. Overall really nice guy who is interested in what he teaches

While the 'Fundamental Concepts' classes range in difficulty and workload for each professor, Hayao was very fair in terms of grading and gave multiple opportunities to lift one's grade. It is a reliable class.

Politics of Japan and Korea is an easy A- but a really tough A. Professor Hayao is a great lecturer but has highly specific grading criteria. Also can repeat himself a bit, but the class is overall straightforward. There are a lot of readings but they really are necessary to do well on the tests.
