Prof A is funny and seems like a sweet woman. The reason I rate her poorly is that the tests are hard (50% of class=exam score). The average is low on these, and it seems almost impossible to get an A when the cutoff is a 95% which is pretty annoying for a 6-credit class designed for freshmen. Her lectures are boring and often very confusing.
Prof A is an amazing woman. The only reason I write that she is a 1.0 is because of how tough it is to receive a 4.0 in the class. I recommend anyone taking Perspectives to not take her, simply because it is quite impossible to receive above a 94. I am in the upper percentile of my class and I only have a 92. Class average hovers around 75-85.
Prof A is so kind. Her lectures can be confusing, and the material is not easy, but it isn't hard to get a good grade in her class. Most of the long Wednesday night classes we would just watch a movie. If you take perspectives, definitely take it with Prof. A.
Sweet woman who cares about her students. Lectures can be boring and quizzes (low weight in grade) can be hard but exams are manageable and perspectives is easy compared to other sections.
(freshman perspectives) Nice woman but lectures not very engaging and course based heavily on exams and quizzes. The info on exams/quizzes somewhat confusing + stray from class topics. Positive: the quizzes/tests are online + open-note, but can be confusing and difficult. Some cool/creative assignments tho. There are better profs. to take class w/
If you are going to take perspectives with any professor at Boston College make sure it is professor Atanassova. I have many friends who were in other sections and I definitely had the most enjoyable experience. It is also the advising section, and she takes the time to know her students and care about each of them. 10/10.
nice person, says some weird stuff here and there. strict with extensions. Gets us pizza for lectures sometimes so thats a plus. Hard grader but tests and quizes are online so cant complain
Her lectures can be boring, but she makes up for it with her quirky personality. She cares a lot about her students (buying pizza or snacks for long lectures). There is NO NEED to read anything expect for the Bible for the Bible exam and paper. All tests/ quizzes are online. The MCQ are hard but she is such an easy grader with writing/ short answer
Prof. A is a great and pretty fair Perspectives professor. Very traditional teaching style but demonstrates care and interest for all of her students. Attending lectures is most important with Prof. A. Be ready for lengthy Canvas-based exams and research papers. In-class discussions are always lively-- participation makes or breaks the class!
Lecture heavy, and gave a random pro-life lecture at the end that was pretty bad.
An ok lecturer. I think as long as you review your classmates with fervor, you can do well on her exams.
She grades incredibly easily when it comes to writing, so if you're a strong writer you'll be fine. There is absolutely no need to read the actual material, just take really good notes and pay extra attention during lectures, and you will hear everything that could show up on exams. Papers are tough but not impossible. All about pacing yourself.
The debates are fun and while you learn a lot the lectures are tough to sit through if you have a hard time paying attention. She grades essays and short/long Qs on exams quite well but the MCQs are very hard (including quizzes). Homework is long and slow, it can take multiple hours so if you're behind there's no way you're catching up.
Professor A. is a nice person, she is accessible and ready to answer questions... although her answers are never really clear. Her lectures can be boring and they are very long. She can be funny but most of the time she is just lecturing non stop. I recommend her if plain lecturing is your learning style but not if you get distracted easily.
She is friendly and sometimes she is funny in lectures however she does not care at all if her students fail and is not very helpful. A majority of the class consistently fails the quizzes and she does not curve or have any sympathy for her students. Her class is extremely difficult especially compared to other perspectives classes.
There is lots of reading and the class lectures are quite boring. Professor A does not give students lots of leeway and in my experience has been a strict grader. Her one redeeming quality is that she is quite funny.
Full disclosure, I found the subject matter of the class to be terribly unenjoyable, so if you are into philosophy/ theology, YMMV.
Professor A's class is definitely a boring lecture style of class unless you participate. She is very open-minded and wants to hear from students, so the environment is dry if the class doesn't ask questions. Otherwise, she grades pretty easily and you don't really have to do the readings because she summarizes them in class.
The class is completely structured around readings, and covers so much content. Her lectures are really long and dry, but her exams reflect what she speaks about in class.
She is very kind and a great person. You need to read for her class if you want to do well. 95 is an A which is hard for a class with as much reading and difficult tests.
Taught through lectures, but they are as entertaining as your class chooses to make them: if no one participates there will be a lot of silence, but if there is a good dialogue this class can be one of the highlights of your day, and she is funny. A bit confusing when it comes to criteria for grading but good about giving help if asked for it.
Wonderful teacher that cares about students even outside of class. Recommend going to office hours for clarification of questions. Lectures may be a little dry and long.
She has an accent that can be hard to understand and basically lectures for the entire class period every single class. It gets incredibly boring and she often seems like she doesn't want to be there. Would not recommend.

Great teacher who comes off as tough as first, but if you build a good relationship with her she is a wonderful person with lenient tendencies.
