Graded participation extremely harshly but created a judgmental environment that made students terrified to give an opinion different from his. His grading was not cohesive and he had extreme expectations in all aspects of the course but provided no details to help. Lectures were incredibly hard to follow, which made quizzes and essays difficult.
Lectures were tough to follow (almost no use of powerpoint); made taking notes/prepping for ill-defined quizzes difficult. Little relevant feedback on essays. Seemed to have little empathy/care for students, which made it tough to ask for add'l feedback. Overall I loved the volunteering aspect of PULSE, but dreaded the lecture part.
