This was my toughest class yet, but also my favorite because of how helpful she was. She cares for all her students' wellbeing, and makes learning materials easily accessible for self-study.
La Combe is a great professor and person who is always very engaging in class. The class goes by very quickly. Be prepared to participate and the tests can be ambiguous/tough. She really cares about her students.
She is definitely a good professor, but she expects a bit too much from her students. There are clear guidelines for the tests, but unless you have read every article (multiple exceeding 20 pages per class) assigned throughout the semester. Participation also matters a good amount and she is a tough grader on the 2 group assignments you have.
Professor LaCombe provides a strong foundation for understanding the business world. Review the lecture slides, read or skim the textbook, and do the homework. Put in the effort, and you will succeed. She ties course material to lived experiences, and her lectures are engaging, thorough, and practical. A worthwhile, valuable class for any major.
LaCombe is a super nice person, the class itself just wasn't great. The group projects and the debate added little to the course, and grading on exams was a little harsh. That being said, she got to know all of the students and is a very kind person. She allowed students to actually get to know one another and bond while still teaching a class.
LaCombe was a great advisor and always willing to meet outside of class. Portico is very participation heavy but I learned a lot through meaningful debates in class. Taking notes is very helpful as exam questions are very specific but she does hand out a study guide. Lots of reading but essential as she sometimes cold calls near end of semester.
Professor La Combe is a GOAT of the accounting dept next to Ed Taylor. She lectures clearly, and her exams are reasonable. HW is due every class, but her class will prepare you very well for other finance and accounting classes.
LaCombe is the GOAT. Take her for financial accounting and she'll set you up very well for the rest of your finance/accounting classes. Very clear and objective which is exactly what you want. Extremely fair. You can tell she cares about her students which is rare to find in my opinion.
An exceptional professor who exhibits a deep passion for the subject matter. This enthusiasm is palpable in every lecture, creating an engaging learning environment. Success in this course is largely attributed to consistent participation and keeping up with the readings. The professor's fervor for the material is contagious.
Very caring teacher who is approachable outside of class. Wishes the best for her students. However, her class tends to be a bit harder than the other sections. Still I highly recommend as she is the head of the department and a fantastic teacher. One of my favorite professors this far.
LaCombe was my Portico professor. She is a lenient grader who gives fair exams based exactly off of what was gone over in class/the lectures. Incredibly kind, discussions are always engaging and fun. Takes the time to actually get to know students.
Professor LaCombe is my favorite professor at BC. She is super sweet and caring! She is also very intelligent and makes classes worthwhile. I know accounting better than any of my friends who took other professors. That said, her exams are difficult and you will have a lot of work. If you are an accounting major, take LaCombe. If not, maybe don't.
Though financial accounting isn't the most fun course to take, Professor LaCombe is always available outside of class to meet to go over concepts if you are struggling. She gives a good amount of partial credit on exams for showing your work and just wants the best for her students.

gets off topic in a very logical accounting class, making it hard for us to catch up with our peers taught by other profs. cool person tho.

not the best lectures, gets distracted/off topic. Sometimes annoyingly hard grader.
